November Trophy Series – 15Km and 5Km at Prairie Gateway Park

  • November sees RMRR running at Prairie Gateway Park in Commerce City.
  • Our 15Km Trophy Series and 5Km races will start at 9 am on Sunday, Nov 6th.
  • This is our next to last race for the year, and a great opportunity for people to improve their Trophy Series scores.
  • We run on a relatively flat and fast packed gravel trail – good surface for comfortable running and some faster times!

Two important timing things to remember:

  1. Our November race starts at 9 am.
  2. Daylight Savings Time begins at 2am before our race.  Set your clock back the night before…or just come early to sign in and help.  Either one is ok!

RMRR 2020 August – LIVE Race – Finally!

Hey, friends.  We are ON for live running at our August race on Friday August 7 at DeKoevend Park!  We have approvals from South Suburban and other authorities, a new racing approach to keep us all healthy, and we’re ready to run together safely again!

First, here are the race details:

  • Friday, August 7    5:30p registration, 6:30p first start
  • Dekoevend Park in Centennial
Park behind the Goodson Rec Center:  Parking Map
  • 5k distance for all

Now for how we’ll make this safe for everyone.  We have a new set of registration and running procedures to help us stay distanced from each other before, during, and after the race.  We’ve summarized key info below, and you can download the entire document here.

General Guidance

  • Wear a mask except when you’re running.  You will need your mask to register and run!
  • Come a little earlier than usual, and be patient.  It will take a little more time to go through our self-serve registration process.
  • Keep that 6 foot distance from your friends before and after the race.  Do your best to do it during the race, too!
  • We will have volunteers to help guide you through our race processes.  Please listen when they provide
  • Sorry, but no potluck…yeah, we’re bummed, too.  If you want to sit on the grass after and talk to folks who are safely distanced, that’s ok, but we won’t have any organized food and drink.
  • PLEASE PLEASE be careful of your friends.  Don’t come if you’ve felt sick with COVID symptoms or might have been recently exposed to COVID.  That would not be nice.

Registration

Everyone signs an updated waiver before moving to tables to get their own bib and start tag.  We will have volunteers helping, and a staffed table for raceday registration.

Race Start

We’ll use the standard scoring system, but with a different start time approach to help keep people distanced during the race and at the finish.  You will be off and running no later than 15 minutes from the first runners, so that warmup time you count on may not be there if you don’t arrive earlier than usual.

During the Race

If you want food or water…bring it yourself.  There will be no waterstop during the race, and no food or drink at the finish.

Have your mask available while running if you can’t stay distanced, and PLEASE be courteous to others using the Highline trail, giving them their space.

In the Chute

You’ll need to put on your mask, pull your tag, and place the tag on the single common spindle.  It will be easy to see how this works.  We will have a VERY long single chute to help everyone stay distanced.

After the Race

We’ll keep post-race activity to a minimum.  No potluck and no results on race day.  We’ll have results online a few days after the race.

There’s a lot of change, but we’re confident these procedures will let us have a safe and successful race for us all.  We can’t wait to see you next Friday!
