September 2020 Trophy Series Results!

Great to see people at another live RMRR race! September saw us on the Platte River trail where we ran COVID-safe 10M and 5k races. Weather was great, if a bit warm, and we had a ball. Here are the key facts:

- 48 racers. 28 10M runners, 19 5k runners, and 1 race walker.
- 12 of our 23 10M runners beat their handicap.
- Fast female for the 10M was Lindsey Gerard with a finishing time of 1:19:11, a pace of 7:55/mi.
- Fast male for the 10M was Eric Greene, whose finishing time of 1:04:58 = a pace of 6:30.
- Estee Brooks was our fastest 5km runner at 23:32 and a pace of 7:34/mi.

October is coming, and we’ll run from Beck Recreation Center in Aurora. Details soon!

August 2020 Trophy Series – 5k Results!

FINALLY…a live race again! We ran in the hot weather at deKoevend Park and enjoyed a sweaty but LIVE and safe 5k. No awards or potluck this time – sigh – but it was nice to see our running friends again!

Our COVID approach made for an interesting start. We used 12 start groups, spread out between 0 and 11 minutes, with 1 to 10 people and a mix of speeds in each group. That meant quick distancing on the course and a nicely spread out finish. Everyone wore masks when not racing, got their own bibs, and even put their finish tags on the spike themselves. And it all worked out great!!

52 racers completed the race. David Lange was the TS winner, and Mike Blanchard was the top racewalker. Deb Cunningham was the fast female in 23:37. Eric Green was the fast male in 18:37.

Plan on another live race on September 13 with 10mi and 5km choices. Hopefully September will be a bit cooler, too!

RMRR 2020 June Virtual 2.5M Race – RESULTS!

We had another great group of runners participate in our June virtual run and racewalk. Way to keep up your spirits, friends!

Results are below and you can see photos in the RMRR Virtual Race Facebook album for June.

Remember, we said “results don’t count toward the Trophy Series, but they still count. Think about all of us who DIDN’T get off their butt and run!

For the 2.5 mile run: Cheryl Stevens was our winner, beating her predicted time by 49 seconds. That’s a lot for a 2.5 mile race! Will Belovitz and James Martinez came in second and third. For our racewalkers, Michael Blanchard won, with Ross Westley and Lucy Donovan in second and third. Finally, once again, Jayme Brindle was our fast female, and Eric Greene the fast male for our race.

Those of you who have won something should expect to hear from Leslie Mitchell and Dave Cunningham near the end of the month.

Thanks to everyone for taking this on and having fun with it. It looks like July will be another virtual race, but we’re hoping that August may be live…we will see. In the meantime, take care of yourselves, your families, and run safe!

RMRR 2020 May Virtual 5k and 5M Race – RESULTS!

We had over 50 members participate in our May virtual runs and racewalks. Way to keep up your spirits, friends!

Results are below and you can see photos in the RMRR Virtual Race Facebook album.

Remember, we said “results don’t count toward the Trophy Series, but they DO establish your mastery over other runners and our current situation, so bragging is allowed.” Let the bragging begin!

For the 5 mile run: Mike Quispe beat his predicted time by 3 – 1/2 minutes…incredible! And elder statesman Lee Bengston came in second…not bad for a gentleman of who will be 83 in August. And just like last month, Jayme Brindle was our fast female, and Eric Greene the fast male for the 5 miler.

For the 5 mile racewalk: Michael Blanchard won the race, with Ang Hamel close behind in second.

For our 5k, Enrico Contolini was the winner, while Adam Feerst and Adam Lee followed in second and third.

Several Road Runners finished both races! Adam Feerst, Travis Mark, Jeff Olson, Greg Asplund, and Dulce Warren all did this. Way to run hard, you folks!

AAAnnnddd…we promised a best picture award as well. We’re still working on it, decision soon. Those of you who have won something should expect to hear from Leslie Mitchell and Dave Cunningham near the end of the month.
