Jim Chow is back in the states after finishing the Sahara Race, a 6-day, 250-km trek through the Egyptian desert. Jim finished this incredibly grueling race in 53:02:24. October Volunteer of the Month — Olga Hnizdil
This month, the Board voted Olga Hnizdil as our Volunteer of the Month. Olga has helped out the club numerous times in the past few months. She was a non-running volunteer at both the Waterton Canyon 10 miler and at the Westminster 9 mile race. She was passing out water at the 2.5 mile stop at both races. Olga also helped out at the Denver Marathon, helping RMRR man the water station at mile 22. Thank you Olga!!
Olga has been a member of RMRR for almost 20 years. She is an amazing runner – having run 10 marathons and even qualifying for Boston. She ran the Pikes Peak marathon 4 times, and the Ascent another few times. She lives in Lone Tree at the end of a cul-de-sac, where she can access open space just yards from her back door. In addition to running, Olga also is quite the adventurer. She has climbed many of Colorado’s Fourteeners, including Longs Peak.
RMRR is grateful to Olga for all she has done for the club. As you all know, RMRR is a volunteer driven club and we can’t put on our races without volunteers. So, if you can’t race some month due to injury, consider coming out to help volunteer. And if you can race, you can always sign up to come early to help set up or help with registration. Thanks!!

Send an email to Jim Chow in the Sahara!
As many of you know, RMRR member Jim Chow is on his way to the Sahara Race, a seven-day, six-stage, 250-kilometer footrace across the Sahara Desert of Egypt. It’s part of the 4Deserts series of races organized by Racing the Planet — a press release describing the event is available here. Jim has detailed his preparation on his blog at http://chifaburritto.blogspot.com/ The race begins Sunday, October 26th and lasts until November 1st.
If you want to follow along with Jim from the comforts of your own home, the Sahara Race has a daily update site. Also, if you want to send Jim an email during the competition, you can do so at this link — emails will be delivered to competitors at the end of the each day. Jim would love to hear from his fellow Road Runners.
Good luck, Jim!
