Good results from MTS – club earned several hundred dollars.  Thanks to Larry M, Daves, Ken, Cheryl,

Treasurer Report – we have money.

Trophy Race  – April Race – City Park

  • Request that the RD fix the weather next time
  • Brian got results posted right away.

            -Results – Trophy Race

            -Comments about the race

Need to find out why the city is locking up the bathroom for us, but it’s open during the week (Tuesday night for FF).  Can whomever got our permit check with the city on this?  Would be nice to use that bathroom….

Trophy Race – April Race (May)  – Stapleton

            – Volunteers

            – Other items for the race

            – Course – 5K scoring

Janet and Mike B are race directors.

Brian B – don’t forget that we have a 5k race to run.  5k people will run with 0:00 starters but turn around at a cone we place on race day.  David will make sure it works ok.

Not sure where we stand with volunteers, but Ken will check with Stephanie (she’s been out of town).

City is trying to make us get a portapottie for our race, even though bathrooms are there.

Dave C do the email blast – write up something and send out by Wednesday.

Volunteer of the Month – Ken S!  He’s been helping at all races, including all MTS, even though he’s been hurt.

October 10 mile – course set down at Cottonwood park in Parker.

Social Activities / Marketing

            – Wed Long Runs

            – Track Workouts – Thurs at 6:15 @ Manual through end of May.  June 6 start at East.

            – Tuesday Groups?

            – Any other activities others want to do?

Father’s Day Mile

Location – Clement Park – If not do a fun Run as a group
No permit yet; plan is to do this on 17th June if we can get a permit.

Possibility – have it at East on a track night.  Deb is going to check with the DPS folks to see if we could do that.

July Race

Probably at Expo Park in Aurora.  Janet working on a permit.

Marathon Training Series

  • How did the races go – 130 people total
  • Did face book and got a least one person for the post
  • Lots of good feedback.  Seems to be good result for spring training

Anything else?

Potluck at Cunninghams – some time in June or July?  Need to pick a date,

Next Meeting Tues May 31, 2011

March 2011 Board Meeting
Monday March 28, 2011
Whole Foods on Colorado Blvd

Present:  Hilarie Ryals, Scott Kukel, Dave Cook, David Rothenburger, Ken Shimada, Ray Sibley, Mike Quispe, Bob Basse, Adam Lee, Eric Greene, Lisa Champeau, Brian Bergevin, Stephanie Struble

March TS:

– Scoring a bit problematic, but Adam figured it out.  Good weather, good turnout, lots of kids.

April TS

            – Volunteers – looking good

            – Other items for the race.  Stephanie will get more Gu, Gatorade.

            – Course – scoring.  Brian B will do this, received scoring gear from Adam.

            – Dr. Jeff Stripling with Denver Chiropractic Center will attend

Volunteer of the Month – I did not write down who we picked!  Was it Rosalie R?

October 10 mile – Think we will use Cottonwood Park in Parker.

Need to follow their rules; want us to park at an abandoned shopping area nearby (where Funugyz used to be) and have only race setup at the park lot.

$250 deposit, but no other fee.

They want us to flag a tough blind corner near a bridge (if we use it).

Need a special use permit from Parker, but otherwise no fee.

Social Activities / Marketing

            – Wed Long Runs         mostly faster runners, almost all daylight now

            – Track Workouts – Start April 7 @ Manual  Thursdays
            – will NOT have Sunday workouts – Will is not doing it this year.

            – Dave C wants to have a potluck at their house, will talk to Deb about it.  Some time in June?

Father’s Day Mile

not quite dead….  Still want to try to make it work with Wash Park as the location (diagonal and run around south end is roughly 1M).  Idea is doing it small this time to see how it goes; few or no prizes, same Friday night.  David will talk to Janet about a permit.

Marathon Training Series

Brian and Steph doing the next one on 10April (same day at Platte ½)

            – How did first race go? – good turnout.  Sonja at RR Lakewood gave us 8 raffle prizes; the volunteers took bib numbers during the race and drew names, so people got prizes at the finish.

            – Registration – 62 people, 58 finishers.  Roughly ½ did the 10

            – Volunteers ( 2 water stations 3, 5, 7, 10, 13, 15, 17)

            – Course easy to mark, manage.

            – Mentioned in RMRR Facebook page, nice coverage in the Post on Friday

Need a 2M course to replace Bible Park for the July race.  Options – Expo Park in Aurora, Clement Park, maybe Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield.  Who is looking at it?

Membership – lots of student memberships at last race.  Decided to treat them as members, send renewals when the time comes.

February 2011 Board Meeting

Trophy Series – January Race

5K

– Results weren’t posted; now fixed, table on website.

– people liked the 5k. We had 15 runners.

Trophy Race – February Race

– good shape for volunteers

– resolving turnaround issues for south turn. Why? Carson Nature Center folks are concerned about congestion and bothering their visitors, so they don’t want us to use the roundabout at their entrance for our turn. They likely don’t understand the size of our races.

Resolution: move our turn a bit north of the roundabout, and consider adjusting other mile markers to suit.

– We need someone new to handle photo cropping and posting for races. Deb’s been doing it for several years, getting tired of the post-race work. Someone who can share?

– Van is fixed, ready for emissions test. Dave C will get that done this month.

Banquet

– Went well, venue still works for us. Discussed other possibilities, but no resolution.

– Volunteer Awards – were not available night of banquet. Volunteer jackets are here and we will give them out at Sunday’s race. Race Director shirts are still in process.

Volunteers of the Month

– Teresa and Brent Jockers for setting up the tent and heater at the January race. That saved us major headaches on a snowy, cold day!

Social Activities / Marketing

– Wed Long Runs: We will begin promoting more/slower people joining in soon when Dave C can participate. Will just use Facebook to get the word out.

– Track Workouts: Summer and Fall workouts can be at Denver South’s nice track; spring is TBD. Deb should know more in next couple of weeks.

Father’s Day Mile

– Location – Near Bandimere Race Track (business park area) or City Park (Ridgegate downhill but too far south for Friday night)? Need to resolve this soon. David will talk with Ray to move this along.

– Socks or Bag as signup gift? David showed a nice bag that would cost around $5.

Other Topics

– Still need a race director for the April 30 Stapleton race.  (later determined this was Mike Blanchard & Janet Fairs)

– Need to understand where we are with raffle giveaway stuff – David check with Kevin D.

– need to take “Run Free with RMRR” cards to running stores. (or simply a more structured, assigned approach to who takes on what stores, what everyone is doing – is Kevin managing this?)
