2008 RMRR – Board Meeting Agenda

Present:  Leslie Mitchell, Holly Whelan, Jim Chow, Kevin Downing, Scott Kukel, Bonnie Keefe, John Lyle, Deb Cunningham, Doug Smith, Bob Basse, Karen Voss, Stephanie Struble

Wins for Change Management:

1.      Laurie’s email messages to new members, May TS race at Stapleton – nice course & well directed.
2.      Bowflags – people said they looked great.  So professional that some people thought it was another group out there.

Marketing (1 hr)

  • Finalize 50th anniversary logo presentation. Art Institute of Denver
    • May race feedback, mocked up promo items using logo choices
    • Board decision. Melinda’s: non-gender runner
    • Next steps

§        Kevin Downing get artwork (full color, one color, web, print, silkscreen, embroider versions, pantone colors)
§        Committees – offline meetings.
§        Events: (Doug-lead)  W/ Mike Quispe, Jim Chow, Scott Kukel, Bonnie Keefe, John/Betsy Lyle, Deb C, David Rothenberger

  • Idea #1: Relay on the track – start at 7am/8am, go until everyone is finished. Sign-up to run during a given hour. Hang around, drinks, food, lawn chairs, under the lights.
  • TS Race: Move August Friday night race to Saturday? July pancake breakfast?
  • Survey Members?

§        Merchandise to order: (Holly – lead)  W/ Leslie Mitchell, Stephanie Struble, Bob Basse,  Deb C

  • Agreed we won’t order new raffle prizes until this group meets.
  • Will use new 50th anniversary logo.
  • Budget – tentative $5,000 for 2009 promos including yr end RD and vol awards.

  • Two aspects – how to market & participation.


  • Budget: right now…expenses down with the loss of newsletter and income up…project to break even or even make some.
  • Website redesign status. Decisions by 5/31. New site up in July Still working on it with a web designer – Kristin Healy.
  • Yahoo RMRR email list – Kevin adding everyone in our data base who is a member and has an email address as of today. Postcards will be sent to those who do not have an email address, but have an address. Link to join on website first page.
  • MTS: Ric/Doug
    • Postings updated on Active. MTS updated to 7am start.
    • Applications out to stores.
    • Stephanie to contact Denver Marathon to see if they want to get involved.
  • Democratic National Convention 5k. Permits for Denver, Dates 8/24, 8/26, 8/27? Stephanie. Sloan’s Lake vs Platte River/Cherry Creek paths. Let them get coordinated/permit and then contact us and we’ll help…on hold.
  • Articles for eNewsletter:
    • Karen – Kids Running America & AIR (August)


Community (30 mins)

  • Fill in your web profile. 8 you have filled this out as of 5/26
  • Track workouts @ Heritage HS. Time change 6:30. Low participation so far compared to 2007.
  • RMRR teams at various races: Bolder Boulder, Denver Marathon – Bob Basse to write up policy including a compensation for runners and temp. Idea = temporary tattoo to identify team.
  • Bolder Boulder volunteers – we had 8. Vols didn’t get Bash Bash tix nor Rapids tix.
  • Identify new members in e-newsletter. Kevin
  • Training runs geared to Georgetown, Denver marathon? Not races, but runs to outline in Denver Runner’s email (on hold)
  • How do we celebrate when we get 150 at a TS or 30 at Track or 20 at Saturday run? Start to think about it.


Logistics (15 mins)

1.      Scoring – Training for Felix + IPICO timers (Felix)

a.      John/Betsy = RDs
b.      Vols – all set
c.      Attune bars/socks/hats
d.      Lost in found box with all misc. items from the office
e.      Get Hip!  Hip mobility exercises with Karen…post race.
3.      Vol of the month – Linda Olson
4.      Authorized van drivers – Leslie needs copy of list – in van.
5.      Succession Planning – who else on board – your replacement?
a.      Eric Greene after June Tri
b.      Lis Shepard?
6.      Free memberships from 2007 updated in DB? – Doug will update DB.
7.      Set up tent/bowflag at future events to identify meeting area for club members.
