Feb 10, 2013 – Platte River Bar and Grill

Volunteers – in good shape:  full slate

Race Course 7M and 5K:  will plan to have 5k and 7M turnaround at the same place, may move the 5k start if we want to be precisely at 5k.

David went out last week and marked the course with blue paint – Deb and Dave rode the course Sunday and verified the markings.  All are near relatively distinctive landscape features EXCEPT mile 6 – it will be tough to find if it snows.

Food – we will buy $100 or more of food from Platte River since we get to use their facilities.  Need to make sure there is some left for non-5k runners

Other race issues:  may be snowy.

Jared for help with the website.

Does anyone know the winner for 2005? David has updated the trophy, and this is the only year we don’t know.

We agreed that we would spend $300 on $25 RR gift certs for the VOMs.  Dave C will get those before the race.  We’ll give Jared and Stacy their certs on Sunday.

Lots happening:

– new website is running, improving daily.  New layout will be cleaner, and Dave is building a plan to update many pages.  Jared will build a new member page function that will WORK and let people update their own pages.  That will be cool!

– social media meeting this Wednesday; objective is to identify best way to use SM to help the club and members.

– Ad turned in to Colorado Runner for March/April

– All Spring MTS set up on Active

– Marketing plan in place for rest of year

– Talked to Ed Riegert at Runners Roost:

     – they will provide gift certs and gimmes for each race

     – they would like our help promoting their big promo events to our members
– they are considering a loyalty program; if it happens, they’ll figure out how our discounts fit in.  The overall discount will not go away, but you won’t get more than you do today!

     – RR is interested in getting our members name into their system for checking those discounts.  Ed also talked about the possibility of sending one email to members asking if they’d like to be on the RR email list.  We did not come to a decision on these, so Dave C will consider and write up thoughts for board.

Banquet went well.  Food was good, location fine, facility nice.  Dave C worried about it if we got more numbers…but Deb notes that hasn’t happened in a long time!  For now we’ll plan on coming back.

Note:  the Masters enjoyed their location and food, but it was more expensive ($25 v our $15)

Next year: tentative Sun Jan 26, 2014

on Thursday June 14, 2013 -Do we do it – If so then need someone to drive it.  Deb will not do it alone this year.  We have the permit already.  No decision.

Wed – done until Next Spring.  Deb sent in the app to use the Denver North track, waiting to hear.

Wed night long runs at River Point shopping Center (Hampden and Santa Fe) 6pm

Group Runs on Sat 7am- at Goodson or Cherry Creek Res.

Also look on facebook:  people have been posting runs for the next day.  We hope to have something a bit more structured via the social media team soon.
