Fall 2014 Marathon Training Series #1 – Results

Saturday saw a nice mellow morning and some good times by the runners! Thanks to everyone who came out and joined us.

Dan Glass (time of 1:03:49), Daniel Clark (1:05:12), and Carl Mather (1:05:42) came in 1-2-3 for the 10M race, and Steve Chu (1:56:48), Bryan Hulse (2:13:15), and Matthew Diaz (2:26:11) finished 1-2-3 in the 20M race.

Thanks to race directors Michael LePage and Michael Cosper, along with all the volunteers who helped the race go well.

September 2014 Trophy Series at Trailhead Park

Nice cool morning for our 8M Trophy Series race on Saturday Sept 6 at Trailhead Park in Thornton!

The Trailhead race is the first of our longer fall races. We had the 8M race as well as 5k for those wanting something shorter. Turnout was light, which was too bad because we had good running weather!

August 2014 Trophy Series and BBQ at DeKoevend Park – RESULTS!

Friends, the first Friday in August brings our traditional Trophy Series race and cookout/potluck at deKoevend Park in Centennial. This is one of our favorite races – nice course, nice location, and fantastic food afterwards.

The August race is a 5k on deKoevend trails and the Highline Canal. Race time is 6:30pm, so plan to come early to register and get ready. Remember to bring a dish for the potluck – side dish, salad, dessert, whatever you wish. Bring enough for 10-12 people, and then look forward to the fun feast! The club will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks, and plates and utensils. We will also have a kids run with lots of fun prizes, so bring the family.

We will need more volunteers than usual to help setup the start and finish, staff aid stations and turnarounds, and to help setup our eating area. We also need people to help cook – have any interest in being the hamburger and hot dog chef? Help out and volunteer if you can.

August Race Result Summary

We had a lovely night for a run – cooler, but still pleasant. Everyone enjoyed our course and the lovely potluck/BBQ after. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out – Ed Gussie helping setup; brand new Denver residents Stacy and Dan Bolyard at our aid station AND taking great pictures; Bruce Wilson, Larry Mudron, and Bob Reilly at the grill; Pam Dailey setting out food while Scott and Peyton helped at the finish…the list is really long this month. You all made this August a breeze to direct – thank you!

The race went well, with lots of fast times. To my knowledge, no one got lost and no one missed any turns, though the race is on the Highline, so someone who goofed could still be running…. The food was great, and the evening sunset absolutely spectacular. Thanks everyone for helping us have another wonderful potluck race!

Stone House Park – July Trophy Series RESULTS

July means Stone House Park and ICE CREAM! Time to reward ourselves for a lovely and fast 2M run with dessert! We’ll have ice cream and all the toppings you can think of, so be ready for a Sunday morning sundae.

Note that our July run is late this year. We’re running on Sunday July 13 at 8am so we miss the July 4 weekend.

July brings us great, warm, weather, so it should be perfect for ice cream. As always this time of year, make sure you put your sunscreen on.

Race Day Details

Date: Sunday July 13
Time: 8am start. Show up at least a half hour early to get your tag and warm up. Don’t make the volunteers wait for you – they want to run, too!
Course: race runs on dirt paths through Stone House Park.
Location: Stone House Park in Lakewood – at 2800 S Estes St near the intersection of Yale and Wadsworth.

We’re always looking for running and non-running volunteers, so PLEASE come help out!
