Results!! Platte River Bar and Grill – February Trophy Series

This was the ultimate winter running day – 70 degrees at the end of our race! Amazing! We had a fabulous turnout of almost 130 people, a great time running, and fun in the bar after. It’s always great to get a beer after a hard run!

Super running today. Lonnie Cruz ran the 7 miles in 38 minutes – that is damn fast! Deb Cunningham was the fast female. Mike Blanchard won the racewalk division, and Scott Dailey won the 5k. For our Trophy Series, a host of new runners swept the top 3: Andrew Gunzler won, with Steve Bennett and Christian Aggeler coming in 2 and 3.

We had a great raffle afterwards, as well, with prizes from Boulder Running Company, our host Platte River Bar and Grill, Runners Roost, and several RMRR bags and other giveaways. Thanks as always to our sponsors, and a huge thankyou to the South Platte Bar and Grill team – you made our morning so fun!!

March’s race will be at Crown Hill Park on Sunday March 1, so coming up quick. More details online soon!

Race Day Details

Date: Sunday February 8
Time: 9am start. Show up at least 45 minutes early to get your tag and warm up. Don’t make the volunteers wait for you – they want to run, too!
Course: race runs on the South Platte concrete bike paths.
Location: Platte River Bar and Grill in Littleton on Santa Fe south of Bowles.

Results! January 2015 Trophy Series

Sorry we’re late with this, gang. Some scoring issues now resolved!

It was COLD during our race this year. 7 degrees, a breeze, icy trail…conditions were tough. We still saw 85 brave runners who did the 10k and 5k. Sabine Preisinger was our Fast Female, and Lonnie Cruz the Fast Male. Dale Petersen, Jeff Hesse, and Bob Basse were our top three Trophy Series runners, and Jan Hill and Mike Blanchard our leading (and only) racewalkers.

Race directors Ric Robinette and Jeff Olson did a great job dealing with the tough course-setting conditions, and Theresa and Brent Jockers were everyones’ heros for bringing the tarp and heater. Very popular!

Bible Park – June Trophy Series

June means Bible Park and PANCAKES! Time for our annual pancake breakfast after a fast 4k run. We’ll have pancakes and all the fixings, so bring your family and your appetite.

Let’s hope for some great June weather. It can get bright and hot, though, so have the sunscreen on.

Race Day Details

Date: Sunday June 7
Time: 8am start. Show up at least a half hour early to get your tag and warm up. Don’t make the volunteers wait for you – they want to run, too!
Course: race runs on bike paths through the park and the Highline Canal trail. Mix of dirt and pavement.
Location: Bible Park in Denver – on Yale a couple of blocks east of Monaco.

We’re always looking for running and non-running volunteers, so come help out!

Treasurers Report

– down from last year by about $1300. Not clear why.
– fewer members is the basic reason
– one other funny issue: hard to track cash from cash box, and Leslie tracks as cash.
– Expenses
– Race Expenses: permitting expenses are stable
– had ribbon expenses last year, won’t need for a while
– haven’t paid our RRCA dues yet
– Insurance: Leslie wondered if we were duplicating coverage with our separate insurance and RRCA coverage. Working with agent to figure this out. Only issue we have equipment that we need to
