December 2008 President’s Message

Hi Road Runners,

Our last race of 2008 attracted 106 participants.  There were some hotly contested Trophy Series places on the line.  As soon as the official results are in, we’ll post them on line.

For those of you who did not make the race and are wondering what is new, check out our sponsors page and the home page.  The sponsors page features our always supportive sponsors – Runner’s Roost, Boulder Running Company, Running Wild, Catalyst Therapies, Bent Gate as well as three new sponsors – Under Armour (new line of running shoes), Scott Kukel’s Massage Envy in DTC (theraputic and sports massage) and Dick’s Sporting Goods (many types of sporting goods).  We’re lucky to have a great group of sponsors to make our races intersting.  Pls support these sponsors!

Next, we’re ready for 2009.  It’s our 50th year as you all know.  That means our standard trophy series races, marathon training series, track, fun runs AND the week’s worth of running.  The latest news on the 50th anniversary is Maureen Roben’s coaching at the Wednesday, June 3rd track workout, and participation by Phiddipides track club.  We also have Running Wild and Catalyst Therapies sponsoring the 50 mile non-competitive relay on Saturday, June 6.  See the 50th anniversary page for more info about these great events.

In the meantime, thanks for participating in RMRR.  It always makes me smile when I think about all of our great members.

Happy running!

November 2008 President’s Letter

Hi Road Runners,

Eighty five people were out on a warm November day for our nine mile race at Big Dry Creek.  One club record was set at this race.  The course record for men was lowered to 55:27 by Adam Feerst.  That’s a 6:10 pace.  Mike Quispe, who places second in men’s scratch, also beat Tim Gentry’s old mark.   Congratulations to Adam!  You can see all of the clubs records by clicking here.

The December race will be held on Sunday, December 7.  That race will decide the year’s award winner.  Mike Knipps and David Rothenburger look like they’ve sewn up the top two places, but the remaining 18 places are close.

In the race walk category, the top three places are locked up with Mike Blanchard in first place, followed by John Lyle and Ed Guiff.

The men’s scratch contest is very close with Adam Feerst and Scott Kukel dueling it out for first place and Eric Greene and David Rothenburger vying for third place.  Dave Cook and Bob Basse will race it out for the fifth spot.

On the ladies side, the first four spots are locked up by Theresa Jockers, Bonnie Keefe, Micol Rothman-Haji, and Karen Voss Szymanski.  The fifth and final spot is up for grabs between Leslie Mitchell and Deb Cunningham.

Look for some exciting competition on the roads of Washington Park.

Beyond race results, we have some great news about new sponsors.  Under Armour has donated 24 pairs of shoes for our 50th anniversary year.  Dick’s Sporting Goods has contributed bonus bucks for the next three races.  Finally, our usual great group of sponsors includes:  Runner’s Roost, Boulder Running Company, Running Wild, Catalyst Therapies, Bent Gate, and Whole Foods.  Please support our sponsors.  Without their support, we would not have great raffle prizes and a knowledgeable running support network.

Finally, as we head into the winter running season,  thank you for your support of RMRR!  2009 is our 50th year.  We’ve got a week’s worth of running planned for the first week of June.  See our 50th anniversary page for more information.

Happy Running!
