Tracy Peterson — Colorado HS Class 3A Coach of the Year

December 8th, 2008 · Comments Off

RMRR member Tracy Peterson was recently named Colorado HS Class 3A Coach of the Year. Below is Tracy’s story of how became a runner and how he became an award-winning coach.

A runner always has a story of where, how, or why they started running. I started back in the 8th grade at Chapman junior high school in Chapman, Kansas. In an attempt to get out of the cold, we had to run the mile. I ran that mile in 6:15 in wrestling practice on a warm snowy 30-degree day. I finished the 8th grade track season with a 5:12 for the mile, good enough for 2nd at the junior high league track meet. I was hooked on running fast. [Read more →]

December 2008 President’s Message

December 8th, 2008 · Comments Off

Hi Road Runners,

Our last race of 2008 attracted 106 participants.  There were some hotly contested Trophy Series places on the line.  As soon as the official results are in, we’ll post them on line.

For those of you who did not make the race and are wondering what is new, check out our sponsors page and the home page.  The sponsors page features our always supportive sponsors – Runner’s Roost, Boulder Running Company, Running Wild, Catalyst Therapies, Bent Gate as well as three new sponsors – Under Armour (new line of running shoes), Scott Kukel’s Massage Envy in DTC (theraputic and sports massage) and Dick’s Sporting Goods (many types of sporting goods).  We’re lucky to have a great group of sponsors to make our races intersting.  Pls support these sponsors!

Next, we’re ready for 2009.  It’s our 50th year as you all know.  That means our standard trophy series races, marathon training series, track, fun runs AND the week’s worth of running.  The latest news on the 50th anniversary is Maureen Roben’s coaching at the Wednesday, June 3rd track workout, and participation by Phiddipides track club.  We also have Running Wild and Catalyst Therapies sponsoring the 50 mile non-competitive relay on Saturday, June 6.  See the 50th anniversary page for more info about these great events.

In the meantime, thanks for participating in RMRR.  It always makes me smile when I think about all of our great members.

Happy running!

Deb
